June 24, 2018; 9:15 – 10:15 UTC
My second activation of Hummelsberg – this time together with YO8SEP.
5 CW QSOs on 20m, 29 CW QSOs on 40m
Rig: KX3 / 10W, Panasonic 7.2 Ah AGM- battery, Palm Pico Paddle
Ant: EFHW Dipole (40m, 30m, 20m) as inverted L on a 10m GRP Pole, ground plane for 20m on a 6m squid pole
Wx: partly cloudy, approx. 15°C
Walking time approx. 10 min. up, 5 min. down. Almost „drive on“ summit.
How to get there?
From any direction to Denkingen and then uphill to the airfiled „Klippeneck“. The car park is at the top, next to the air field. From there follow the track to the East.
Joint activation with Petronel, YO8SEP.
On the way to „Klippeneck“ we passed an impressive antenna farm.
Next to this place is a Kneipp-pool where YO8SEP found a Geocache.
Panoramic view from Hummelsberg.
We set up two operating sites, the EFHW next to the cross (mainly for 40m because of in-band interference on 20m) and a 20m ground plane approx. 50m awyay.
On the picture below, DL3TU is operating on 20m CW.
YO8SEP operating on 40m SSB.
I enjoyed the company of Petronel and the good discussions we had on the way.
Thanks for the QSOs, it was fun as always!
